Sea to Sound Day 1
Day One: Camp Creek Trailhead to Spruce Railroad Trailhead
Our first day, Friday August 23rd, kicks off at 11 AM and travels a total of just under 20 miles. We will have a registration/pickup table at the shuttle point for you at the Spruce Railroad Trailhead to pick up your bib and Sea to Sound gear. There will be other opportunities to get your gear. There will be aid stations at ~5-mile increments.
Riding the whole day? Read this…
If you plan to ride/run/roll the entire 20 miles we recommend you park at the Spruce Railroad Trailhead and catch our shuttle to the beginning of the route. If parking happens to fill up, there is overflow parking 1/2 mile back at Log Cabin Resort. This way your ride will be waiting for you at completion. Easier for you and easier for us! Our shuttles will leave the Spruce Railroad Trailhead by 9:30 AM, so be sure to arrive early.
Interested in only riding a section? This part is for you…
If you plan to do less than 20 miles, we recommend you still park at the Spruce Railroad Trailhead, you will then be shuttled to the beginning of the route where you can begin the ride. We will then have shuttle support at every aid station that will continue to shuttle you along the route and ultimately to your vehicle.
Looking for a split day, 10-mile range? Check this out…
There is a third option… The final 5 miles of the day are spectacular and right along the banks of Lake Crescent on a newly paved surface. If 10 miles is a good length for you, join us for the first 5 miles and the last 5 miles. If this is what you are interested in, we recommend you park at the Spruce Railroad Trailhead before 9:30 AM and get a shuttle to the starting point. After the first 5 miles you would be shuttled to lunch at our second aid station, where you’ll enjoy lunch with the rest of the group. Finally, you will then be shuttled to our third aid station, Pyramid Peak Trailhead, where you could head off down the beautiful trail or wait until the rest of the group arrives and join them.
Other things of note…
There is very limited cell service throughout day 1, you may want to download any maps, documents or directions before you arrive.
You can view the route for day one here: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/42382320
Don’t forget your water bottle! We will have water bottle filling stations along the way to reduce the use of single-use plastic.
We will offer lunch to those interested at the second aid station of the day, about 10 miles in. It likely will be after 1 PM. There will be a variety of sandwiches and other options.
Many of the wheelchairs will stay together as a group and travel around 5 mph. The aid stations will be closed down soon after they are passed by this group.
At each aid station there will be snacks, water, an EMT, ADA restroom, hand sanitizer, a mechanic and shuttle support.
If you lose anything during the ride please visit our "lost and found" at the merch table during lunch and at the finish.
Please check the forecast for the day and be prepared for the weather. We will have ponchos just in case!
Sea to Sound will be over at 5 PM on this day.
Looking for something to do afterward?
Please consider joining us at the Harbinger Winery after our ride finishes tomorrow. Wine, beer and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase. There will also be pizza, including gluten-free and vegetarian options available for all participants. Outside food is allowed and there are a number of food options available between the Spruce Railroad Trailhead and Harbinger Winery. Their address is 2358 US 101, Port Angeles, WA. We will be there between 5 PM and 7:30 PM.
Some extra fun...
This year we are adding a scavenger hunt for a little extra fun! If you would like to participate, please download the Scavos app at https://play.scavos.com/QEHQ-BLEM and join our Scaventure using invite code: QEHQ-BLEM.
Do you need extra support?
We want everyone to do as much of the trail as possible. Please let us know ahead of time if there are any special needs that we can attend to.
Volunteers will be on the course and ready to push if needed. This could be for a power wheelchair that’s run out of batteries, or manual chair user who would just like a little break.
Finally, if you have any other concerns, don’t hesitate to reach out and ask. We are here to accommodate everyone and ensure you have a good time.
