Sea to Sound Day 3

Day Three: Jamestown to Port Townsend

Our third day is about 24 miles. Sunday, August 25th starts at Carrie Blake Park in Sequim at 11 AM at the parking lot adjacent to the soccer fields. There will be a registration/pickup table at this location. If you’re just riding on this day, this is where you will pick up your bib and Sea to Sound gear. There is a 12-mile section on this day that travels along the 101 and the very narrow Highway 20. We will be shuttling all participants through this segment. There will be aid stations and shuttle support at ~5-mile increments.

Riding the whole day? Read this…

If you plan to ride/run/roll the entire 24 miles we suggest you park at Haines park-and-ride (440 12th St, Port Townsend, WA 98368) in Port Townsend, and catch our shuttle to the beginning of the route. This way your ride will be waiting for you at completion.  Easier for you and easier for us! Our last shuttle will leave the Haines park-and-ride at 9:30 AM, so be sure to arrive early.

Day three of 2023

Interested in only riding a section? This part is for you…

If you plan to do less than 24 miles, we recommend you still park at Haines park-and-ride, you will then be shuttled to the beginning of the route where you can begin the ride. We will then have shuttle support at every aid station that will continue to shuttle you along the route and ultimately to your vehicle.

Attention wheelchair users! Read this…

If concerned about your battery, and would like to do 10 miles or so, we advise you still park at Haines park-and-ride get shuttled to the start, and then continue riding the shuttle to lunch or join along at any time. The most noteworthy part of the day is the final 7.3 miles into Port Townsend on the Larry Scott Trail. It is a dirt trail. However, it is very smooth and often feels paved. If you feel like a short day, I would prioritize this section. We should arrive at the Milo-Curry Trailhead around 3:15 PM. If doing the 24-mile option or the ~10-mile option, we suggest parking at the finish line, Haines park-and-ride (440 12th St, Port Townsend, WA 98368), and catching the shuttle to the starting point before 9:45 AM. It makes it easier for you and easier for us!

Other things of note…

  • You can view the route for day three here: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/42382389

  • Don’t forget your water bottle! We will have water bottle filling stations along the way to reduce the use of single-use plastic.

  • We will offer lunch to those interested at the second aid station of the day, about 10 miles in. It likely will be after 1 PM. There will be a variety of sandwiches and other options.

  • Many of the wheelchairs will stay together as a group and travel around 5 mph. The aid stations will be closed down soon after they are passed by this group.

  • At each aid station there will be snacks, water, an EMT, ADA restroom, hand sanitizer, a mechanic and shuttle support.

  • If you lose anything during the ride please visit our "lost and found" at the merch table during lunch and at the finish.

  • Please check the forecast for the day and be prepared for the weather. We will have ponchos just in case!

  • Sea to Sound will be over at 6:30 PM on this day.

Looking for something to do afterward?

Come join us at the Pourhouse in Port Townsend! It’s about ½ a mile from the finish line and they offer beer and nonalcoholic beverages. We will be providing pizza for those that would like to join us. They have a lovely outdoor space and makes for a perfect time to think back over an accomplished weekend. Their address is 2231 Washington St., Port Townsend, WA

Some extra fun...

This year we are adding a scavenger hunt for a little extra fun! If you would like to participate, please download the Scavos app at https://play.scavos.com/QEHQ-BLEM and join our Scaventure using invite code: QEHQ-BLEM.

Do you need extra support?

We want everyone to do as much of the trail as possible. Please let us know ahead of time if there are any special needs that we can attend to.

Volunteers will be on the course and ready to push if needed. This could be for a power wheelchair that’s run out of batteries, or manual chair user who would just like a little break.

Finally, if you have any other concerns, don’t hesitate to reach out and ask. We are here to accommodate everyone and ensure you have a good time.
