Start time: 10:00 a.m.

Day 2 is 28 miles. It begins west of Port Angeles, at the end of Crown Z Water Road at the spectacular Elwha River suspension bridge. The trail crosses the Elwha River. Long a source of hydropower and water for mills, the Elwha dams were removed in September 2011, and the largest river flowing out of the Olympics returned to breeding all 5 salmon species, including the giant 100 pound Chinook salmon of earlier years. Although there are some hilly spots, the route is almost entirely paved. There are several excellent access points to join or exit the group ride. Many will be joining us in wheelchairs. We offer aid stations along the way and transportation assistance when needed. Registration includes a Bottle, swag bag and race bib.

We will offer shuttling back to the start of the day. However, we strongly encourage those who plan to do all 28 miles to park at Carrie Blake Park, where a 9 a.m. shuttle will be available to the start of the route. Please be sure to arrive to Carrie Blake Park before 9 a.m. if you plan on taking the shuttle to the start of the ride.

Parking available at Laird’s Corner.

Smooth sailing, except for the bumps after Hill St.

Those hills are STEEP!

Smooth sailing for everyone until we hit Sequim central. Even that’s not too bad, so long as you have someone to push the walk button at intersections…
