Join us as we explore the most popular access point to Olympic National Park, Hurricane Ridge. This park is rugged, with jagged peaks, snowy valleys and incredible ridgelines. The photo opportunities are endless, with unique, endemic wildlife species like the Olympic marmot, Olympic chipmunk and Olympic ermine. You’ll get to see some exquisite beauty while spending time with like-minded folks.
Ride the Ridge is a little different than most of our other events, kind of similar to Ride Tahoma, where we choose to explore the beauty of a National Park rather than go out and get 10+ miles on a trail.
The ride starts out exploring the stunning meadow just above the main parking lot. Next, we meet up with a Ranger who will give a talk on the Olympic National Park and tell us more about the land we are exploring. Finally, we drive 1.5 miles down to the Hurricane Hill Trailhead where we can view more of the rugged peaks this park has to offer. Once we reach the trailhead there is ¾ of a mile of great views on relatively flat terrain. There is then another mile of spectacular views that require a bit of a steep climb.
We bring support and muscle to make sure everyone feels comfortable and confident with their ability to explore various terrain. It’s not for everyone, but we do recognize the importance of knowing our limits and recognizing what we can and can’t do. For those who want to tackle the steep stuff, we will help you do it in a safe way.
We understand transportation can be a major obstacle, if you’re interested in joining and getting there is a problem, please let us know and we may be able to help arrange something.
